Week 24 in Field!

Elephant Round 2!

Where'd the elephant go?!

When Man and Beast meet...
It's moments like this when I marvel at God's majestic creations.
Our Heavenly Father didn't just create us, His children, but he beautified the Earth with other magnificent creations!

A Beautiful Ancient Wat (Buddhist Temple)

But the story behind this Wat isn't all pretty.
This is the Buddhist representation of what the underworld looks like.
Depending on the sins that you have committed, they believe that your body will be grotesquely  disfigured in reflection of your wrong doing.
I am so grateful for the gospel, for a merciful Heavenly Father, for the opportunity that I have to repent each and everyday because of the Atonement, and a Plan of Happiness that's sure to bring us eternal joy as we keep the commandments.

Bromance at its finest! Elder Hunt + Elder Davis

The day before Transfer Calls!
Transfers are always nerve wrecking...
The suspense of not knowing what will happen!

And the call finally came on Monday night!
Only Elder Weaver has been transferred to another area this time!
Goodbye Elder Weaver! Best of luck to you in Lopuri with the monkeys!
I am so grateful to have had the chance to serve with Elder Weaver.
He was in the group ahead of me, so I had the opportunity to spend a few weeks at the MTC together.
It's amazing how much he has changed, and grown in the few short months that we didn't see each other.
I am grateful to have served around an Elder who understands his purpose as a missionary and is diligent and obedient!
I know that the Lord will take him to greater heights because he is willing to let the Lord change him!

I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain!

I looked out the window and what did I see?

This past week, in between teaching appointments and trying to find new investigators...we spent some time at the chapel practicing singing for the Ward Conference that took place this last Sunday.
We did so well that the Stake Presidency asked us to sing at the Stake Conference in June!
I am so grateful for the power of music in my life!
There is such a strong spirit when Saints are gathered together in praising the Lord through singing.
The Lord has said, "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads."

Break Time = Selfie Time!

Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman!
Once there was a snowman, tall, tall, TALL!
In the sun he melted, melted, melted...
In the sun he melted, small, small, smmaall!

Our Thai Mohanna!

Massages...

Welcome to the Squad Elder Earl!
This is our new addition to our district!
He's our Greenie from North Carolina!!
Looking forward to another miracle filled 6-week transfer in Sisaket!!!

Week 23 in Field!

This week has been crazy!
Why? Because in Thailand, it was the New Year's celebration!
It's called SongKrang...
What does it entail?
If I were to help you visualize it...
I would describe it like this:
Imagine Halloween, where you go door to door and Trick or Treat.
But instead of getting treats, you get water thrown at you, and your face patted with baby powder...
There are trucks full of people and stations set up in front of homes and stores, with huge containers of water, ready to attack you as you pass by!
And it lasts for THREE DAYS!!

But first before all that, the beginning of the week was in preparation for the Ward SongKrang Activity.
We spent some of our District Meeting time to go buy some supplies at Macro.

And ended up biking around the town like this.....

Wednesday Morning- Ward Activity!

Similar to the Korean Tradition of showing respect to your Elders by the traditional bow on New Years, and receiving blessings in return, Thai people do it like this!

And then...the real experience of SongKrang started!!

In the midst of it all, we still had to work :)

Inviting on the streets looked something like this...

While all that was happening...Fuk has become the missionaries' new hero!
He is literally everywhere we go!
Whether it's service projects or helping us teach, you can count on Fuk and his little bike to be there at your service!!!
